Barbara Jean’s is a family run, multi-unit restaurant operation that began in 1998 on St. Simons Island, Georgia, about fifty miles north of Jacksonville, Florida and 60 miles south of Savannah. We specialize in both seafood and made-from-scratch, home-style cooking. As the Savannah Morning News said in July 2006, “It’s rare that a restaurant can pull off doing both seafood and home-style cooking and do both very well, but Barbara Jean’s does just that.” bjfacebookWe take great pride in what we do and know that the most important visit we get from you, our customers, is the next one, and we have to earn that today! The heart of Barbara Jean’s is the very real Barbara Jean Barta. She is the creative force behind the recipes we serve and works every day in one restaurant or another. Other family members are every bit as active. There is little doubt that we are best known for our Crab Cakes, but our She Crab Soup, slightly mysterious “Chocolate Stuff” dessert and homemade breads have an aggressive following as well. All our locations will be open Thanksgiving Day. Keep in mind we can do bulk To Go orders for holiday family gatherings and parties. Just give your location a call a day or two ahead. Our Ponte Vedra and Amelia Island Florida restaurants will also be open for breakfast that day as well from 8:00 AM. St. Simons will not.
